LET THERE BE LIGHT
The Arana Touch Football Club Summer season started under a new light; the 2017 Season began with 550 junior members playing touch football this season. This is a tremendous achievement for the Arana Touch Football Club who had 300 junior members this time last year and now have 550 junior members with the club having a waiting list of about 100 kids wanting to play.
Gary Madders President of the Arana Touch Football Club said the club was expecting a big season this year but probably not that big Gary also mentioned that the Club would like not to have a waiting list, but due to already reaching a capacity of field usage they were able to field any more teams. This problem would be the envy of a lot of sporting clubs.
Field Three that the Arana Touch Football Club use was successful in receiving funding to upgrade the existing light with new and improved lights. Funding was secured by the West Arana Hills Rugby League Football Club through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and Arana Leagues Club with Arana Sports assisting in preparing the Grant application and helping the club obtain funding. In its previous state, the football field cannot be used when it is dark due to it being a safety issue to participants who are involved in the sport.
With the touch competition running mostly during the week and at night it is an absolute necessity that they have a field that is lit so that they can use it at night to meet the growing demands of the sport.
Since the Lights have gone on the club has been able to play more games than it would of in past season due to more fields lighting up.
The Lights have been a huge benefit to the club and will continue to be an advantage to the club for the future seasons.
